When our sprinkler guy came to start the system back up this spring, he could not get the controller to recognize most of the zones. The next day, I called the company about the problem since we had just planted some grass and needed to get the system up and running ASAP. A very cheery man helped me troubleshoot the problem over the phone, and we determined fairly quickly that we had a faulty module. Since our controller was still under warranty, he shipped me a replacement module and I had the system back up and running in no time at all! Most companies these days have terrible customer service, so I was floored at how helpful the Hunter folks are and how quick and easy it was for me to solve the problem myself with their support. I would not hesitate to recommend Hunter products and wish that the rest of the world would follow Hunter's customer service model. She had an awful time understanding how to work the unit. It's not especially easy to use compared with other controllers. Although I am familiar with programming irrigation controllers (I've helped out many of my neighbors and the in-laws), this one took me several tries just to figure out how to get a manual cycle or a single station to run. I also found trying to set up a weekly schedule to be frustrating and non-intuitive. All of this was made even more difficult when, about two years later, the unit's display became dull and difficult to read. Eventually, the display became so dim that it was impossible to operate and the unit needed replacement. I would not recommend this controller. |
